Rapid - just by that fact it made everyone else sit up and see this is the new benchmark, which was far beyond what others were achieving in so many areas in terms of reliability, factory options, shot count, accuracy etc etc. They're not the prettiest things but if you wanted pretty, you should have bought a budgie instead.
In terms of springers... I'd go HW80 for pretty much similar reasons.

Mk 1 HW97, because I can't use open sights lol.

AA 510, because it's the perfection of a long series of rifles & still sells in various guises & doesn't need things doing to it.

I know very little about PCPs because I don't like them but I don't understand why the Sparten is not considered as the best PCP when it's the only PCP that I like, what am I missing about PCP's

The best PCP is a Spartan the only really nice-looking PCP

Like you, Barry, I'm no big fan of the PCP. However, yes, I agree with the Spartan. Beautiful and exclusive.

But a Diana wouldn't feature amongst my favourite springers.

I'd agree with you Barry, that is a beautiful rifle but not one many people could afford, so probably wouldn't consider

And I could quite easily go with the FWB 300S as my top spring rifle.

Agreed, Pete. But, I suppose the question was, "which is the ultimate", and affordability wasn't a pre-requisite?
